Parts of Speech tagging creates a Grammar such as identifying Nouns, Verbs and Pronouns using statistics and  probability theory such as Bayesian statistics the graph algorithm might have actually been a data structure such as HashMap or Dictionary also known as Parsers might also be used in programming language designs since programming language have their own Grammar basically trying to improve the state of the art technologies.
